Earth Hour-sound & video project for WWF
As
mentioned in the previous post I have been preparing something new an interesting related to sound & video assignment.
Beyond web design & development, photography & 3d modelling there is new ground for me.
Final Cut Pro 7 & Apple Logic Pro 9 where daunting tools two years ago… whereas now they became best friends, most intuitive tools and fun to work with.
An email came along from WWF about the Earth Hour video competition..I jumped at the idea!
I experimented with the notion of nature & natural sound and light.
- Years ago when electricity was not in foreground sun and moon inspired poets, led lifestyles, drawn human closer to earth.
- Years after, night is day and day can be night if we chose to we show off to the universe with our lights, immense resources of energy for light to travel to our dome.
- Yet we, more than ever are far from mother earth .
-How would it be to contrast this concept natural vs. human intervention?
For me it found place in ambient music,
- A mixture of organic sounds and electronic mix.
- A climax in the latter, an energy climax- a sound climax,
- An echoing voice of hour…time and it’s concept…for how long are going to be booming before we respect earth and its givings?
Critical Analysis of Work
I. Technical aspects
I have greatly improved my knowledge and workflow of Logic Pro 9 and also extended my knowledge in Final Cut Pro 7 for the creation of this project. Technically I am more aware and able to troubleshoot.
I have also improved my workflow once I moved out of the trial and error phase and work methodically for the creation of the project by sketching and writing structures, storyboard and brainstorming boards. This process has provided me with an insight for the future.
II. Creative aspects
On the creative aspect I noted that I began with very complex requirements for the initiation of my project, thus making the entire project more cumbersome and difficult not only to explain and discuss but also to implement.
Taking the plunge in altering the topic of my project radically, yet by making it more simple and directly forwarded to the viewer/user; and also documenting every step of my workflow with lists and sketches has opened up new horizons.
