iPad, iPhone & the Flash technology debate
What a contradiction, friction and stretch of polarities in the tech societies… people are fascinated by the iPad- People are sceptical about its abilities.
uh…but what are you going to do dear reader?
- Wait for the gigs to go and test it and then reconsider?
- Wont buy it because you love your flash game?
- Or is it that you love its blasting 10hour battery on the go and 1month stand by with less than 15″ to get it up & running?
I dare you buy that iPad and install flash in it and your are going to see your CPU in the max, (if it doesn’t crash something in there) your battery to the min, as I have personally seen it happening with my flash and air applications installed on my MacBook Pro.
I had happily installed BBC iPlayer application, when I realized how quickly it drains that battery indeed, its not a joke, that’s serious. My CPU is considerably higher than the one I used to have on my old HP windows XP laptop, which crashed on the sight of flash applications, gave me the blue and frozen screens every now and then.
- I wrote on adobe’s blog: “Apple’s iPad — a broken link?” interested in introducing flash in iPads anyway,
- I read appleInsiders article to get accustomed with the story: “Steve Jobs pans Flash on the iPhone”
- Dug into the arstechnica.com links: “What Steve Jobs Said During His Wall Street Journal iPad Demo”
- Dug into the link of the link: “Apple, Adobe, and Flash”
So…for me its like fuelling that great new Cadillac with the cheapest petrol you can get, would you do it? No!
-why put flash in your iPad then?
A few months ago I was thinking what will I go learning after graduation. I tell you I was jugling over CSS3, html 5,PHP, XML JavaScript, adobe certification, then came Final Cut Pro and Logic applications certification…Pause.
I came, I saw, I conquered. I always respected the open source community, Linux, adobe…but Apple software is something else, its a never crashing marvel over hours or non stop working labour, endless stand by time, project after project, render after render, after bounce after compressor and sometime two together!I knew that they are designed for my battery and my CPU. I loved their pleasant graphics on my tired from endless studying hours eyes.
I did a whole project on HTML 5 as an emergent technology and I am aware that Google and Apple are behind it. (Do ya need references, I dig you some if ya like so!
Now translate that in phone models….yes iPhone & Android and now comes the iPad dude! +its free, open source and open developer community, where does the cash come where does the fame come? Hey, iPhone apps are all the rage, developers and you are being directed if you haven’t noticed to:
- HTML 5
- Css 3
- JavaScript
- Ajax
- SEO friendly content
Do you have any more on the list for me lads? Through it in the comments and make yourself heard!
How technology is shaping my future career.
For me I do have a plan for after graduation, just enough to save me from drowning from unemployment and the endless “what next” of the final year undergraduate student.
