March ing

This month was a transition period from employment to freelance world and February was a month breeding new experiences, new potentials, new friends full of promises for spring time (yes March is a spring month in Greece!).

bgstar768-editeventability.ie as a concept was simple yet …pink, flourishing artistic events management company seeking that touch of “quirkiness” yet being corporate. As we started of building with the owner and of the company and dear friend; we found new limits to the extend of the website and updates soon became a daily bullet point A4 sheet, as it often happens to be. The result has been an extensively edited website in code and graphics to match my friends expectations in the best possible way.

It will fail on usability, yet a friend is happy and thus I am happy. Many designers/developers might contemplate on that thin line asĀ  I also found myself in this questioning position, “to be usable or to merely apply visual demand when there is no middle option?”. Here comes Shakespeare on webstage so… “to be or not to be?”

The illustration created was initially a creative commons photo from russel smith that I manipulated via Photoshop CS4 and flourish brushes to create this festive effect. This 40 minute random outcome really gave character to the website, creativity, colour and charm. The “flower” or “star” was also the culprit of even futher changes to the initial “colourise“theme, enough to trigger a complete logo change even!

What amazed me is this exact impact that one single photo can have to the overall of the website. It still is under creative commons of course, and you are free to comment on the illustration
